John joined GROWTHCAP in 2011, and is Executive Director responsible for operations.
He had previously worked for 17 years with the TAM/BAS Programme at EBRD, 5 years as the Deputy Director, with special interests in the development of young entrepreneurs and ICT through business incubators.
Prior to that, as Managing Director of the International Wool Secretariat (“IWS”, now more familiarly known as “Woolmark”), he was responsible for a worldwide programme of research, development and marketing, with offices in 32 countries and a staff of 1,250.
John holds a BSc (Hons) from Melbourne University and a DPhil from Oxford University, where he was awarded the Balliol War Memorial Studentship for his research achievements in protein chemistry. He has also participated in Stanford University’s Marketing Management Programme.
He has served first as President, and then as Chairman of the Board, of The Textile Institute (TI), the worldwide professional organisation covering all sectors and all disciplines in textiles, clothing and footwear. He is a Companion of the TI, an award limited to 50 living members.
